This is one of the most beautifully diverse treks in the world providing mostly moderate hiking, mesmerizing scenery and a mix of cultural heritage that any other trek in Nepal can offer. The major ethnic group in this area are the Gurung peopl, historically famous for serving as soldiers in the British Gorkha Army.
This trek begins from a sub-tropical valley and climb up to a glaciated alpine zone through oak and rhododendron forests. The hike leads us to the famous sunrise view point of Poon Hill, where we can enjoy the breath taking, 360-degree view of the Annapurna range. We ultimately make our way to Machapuchare Base Camp where we will stay before ascending to the alpine mountain sanctuary of Annapurna Base Camp (13,550 ft.). The peak highlights of this trek are amazing views of Mt. Machapuchare (22,943 ft.), Mt. Dhulagiri (26,794 ft.) and Mt. Annapurna South (26,545 ft.).
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, you will be received by our representative and transferred to your Hotel. If arrive early mid-day is free to venture around the city close to your hotel. Welcome dinner in a Nepali Way at the hotel.
Ater breakfast, we will have a full day guided cultural tour to three of the famous UNESCO heritage sites in Kathmandu. We will first visit; the stupa of Swayambhunath (Moneky Temple),the Buddhist shrine is considered to be over 2000 years. Followed by beautifully designed ancient city Patan, Once, an independent and mighty kingdom of the Kathmandu Valley and lastly Pashupatinath, a sacred Hindu temple located on the banks of Bagmati River also considered the holiest cremation ground for Hindus.
After early breakfast, Transfer to Domestic Airport for 25 minutes flight to Pokhara (827m/2713 ft). Upon arrival in Pokhara, the beautiful lake city, we will take 90 minutes drive through Pokhara-Baglung highway passing a beautiful Lumle village towards Nayapul (1070m/3510ft), the starting point of our trek. Following Modi River, we will walk past forest of blooming rhododendron and cross small stream. We can stop by Birethanti for a lunch break. We cross a couple of bridges and continue walking until we reach the village of Tikhedhuga. Upon arrival in Tikhudhuga (1480m/4856 ft), we check into our lodge, freshen up and have free time until dinner is served. Our guides will provide the plan for the next day.
After breakfast, hit back to the trail. We will cross a small wooden bridge and start to ascend. It is a long climb up the hills to the village of Ulleri (2,070m/6,791ft). The trail goes uphill through fields and rhododendron trees. We will cross the Magar village of Banthanti enjoying spectacular views of the great mountains. We will cross the small river and climb to Nangethanti and finally to Ghorepani. The word Ghorepani, translates into ‘Horse-water’ due to its importance as a campsite for past traders. We will come across mule trains carrying loads of foodstuffs; this is the traditional trade route to higher places and to Tibet. There are many shops in Ghorepani, it is one of the busiest village in the region and we will have the opportunity to explore the village. There are also amazing views of the surrounding mountains, including Annapurna South, the Nilgiri mountains and Mt. Dhulagiri. We check into our lodge and have free time until dinner is served. Our guides will provide the plan for the next day.
This morning we wake up before the sun rises and hike up to the summit of Poon Hill to witness the most fascinating and mesmerizing sunrise view reflecting over Dhaulagiri Mountain (8167m), Annapurna I Mountain (8091m), Annapurna II Mountain (7937m), Annapurna III Mountain (7855m), Annapurna IV Mountain (7525m), Annapurna South Mountain (729m), Nilgiri Mountain (6940m), Tukuche Mountain (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), Lamjung Himal (6931m) and many more mountains. we also get incredible views of Mustang and Pokhara.
After enjoying to fullest, taking some photographs and having some hot beverage, we descend back to Ghorepani. Upon arrival back in Ghorepani, we pack our gear and have breakfast. After breakfast, we begin our walk East and climb an adjacent ridge before descending through a rhododendron forest. we will cross the Deurali Pass and then walk down to the village of Banthanti. This village is below a hill and has a beautiful river passing through it. The people here are mostly Gurungs. From Banthanti we will start to hike a small hill at the end of which lies the village of Tadapani (2,700m/8,860ft). Upon arrival in Tadapani, we check into our lodge and have free time until dinner is served. Our guides will deliver the plan for the next day.
Today after breakfast, we begin walking down a steep trail through a dense rhododendron forest. The forest trail ends, and our trail opens up to beautifully terraced fields. We then ascend steadily for about 5 kilometers along a few waterfalls before reaching a suspension bridge. Then, few more miles on Ups and Downs terrain until we reach the village of Chhomrong. It is a beautiful village right below the giant Annapurna massive. we check into our lodge and have free time until dinner is served.
This morning after breakfast, we leave Chhomrong and descends 2,500 stone steps before crossing the Chhomrong river.We cross a suspension bridge over the river and begin an uphill climb to village of Sinuwa. We then pass through a beautiful forest to the village of Kuldihar and then we continue on an easy descent to Bamboo. Upon arrival in Bamboo, we check into our lodge and have free time before dinner is served. Our guides will deliver the plan for the next day.
After breakfast, we begin ascending slowly through a bamboo forest which is usually damp and cold due to hidden from the sunlight. We then walk uphill on a trail which is sometimes steep. After a while, the forest opens up and we are out in the sun again with amazing views of the glacial river below. The vegetation becomes thinner as we go higher. It is a steep climb up through a much drier forest before reaching Hinku Cave. From here our trail descends to a river before ascending to Deurali, allowing spectacular views of the surrounding hills, valley and Mt. Dhaulagiri. When we arrive in Deurali, we check into our lodge and have free time until dinner is served. Our guides will deliver the plan for the next day.
This morning we wake up earlier than usual, have breakfast and begin ascending slowly. The trail leads over a glacial river bed and then sticks to a rocky cliff which is steep sometimes. We continue to walk for a couple of hours until we reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC 3700m/12135ft). From here we get excellent views of Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna mountains. After lunch, We continue to ascend gently to the Annapurna Base Camp. During our ascent we can appreciate remarkable views of the Himalayan panorama. it is amazing experience to reach the base camp of Mt. Annapurna, surrounded by magnificent peaks. we will take photographs and hang out for some time before checking into our lodge for dinner and a good night’s sleep. Our guides will provide the plan for the next day.
After breakfast this morning, we pack our bags and begin the descent back to the village of Bamboo. From Annapurna Base Camp our trail rapidly descends past the Machhapuchhre Base camp, Deurali, and Doban and finally to Bamboo. Today’s trek is downhill, and we shall be retracing our steps, so it should not be that difficult. Upon arrival in Bamboo, we check into our lodge and have free time to rest until being served dinner. Our guides will provide the plan for the next day.
From Bamboo, we trek to the village of Kuldighar and retrace our step back to the Chhomrong river before climbing the many steps up to the village of Chhomrong. There we take a lunch break and then descends to Jhinu Danda. We take the less travelled path to the village of Jhinu through rain forests and farms. At Jhinu Danda, just few minutes’ walk from our lodge we can enjoy the amazing hot spring to relax and soak our aching muscles. we can spend the rest of the afternoon taking a rest and relaxing.
After Breakfast, we pack our bags, and retrace to Naya Pul from where we began the trek. Our trek today takes us through the amazing scenery and villages of the Nepali hillsides. We stop in a village to have lunch and continue to Naya Pul. Upon arrival in Nayapul, we say goodbye to our porters and board our vehicle back to Pokhara the beautiful lake city. Check into hotels take showers and have free time to venture around the beautiful lake side.
After Breakfast, we fly back to Kathmandu and check into our pre booked hotel. Rest of the day is free for independent activities. In the evening we will be having farewell dinner hosted by Travel House Nepal.
Our adventure in Nepal comes to an end today! After Breakfast, Free till departure. Transfer to the airport to connect with the onward flight.
