No PCR reports for Covid-19 required for entering Annapurna Base Camp

Now it does not require PCR reports for Covid-19 for trekkers heading to trekking routes to the Annapurna Base Camp. The trekking routes were resumed on January 14 amid the infection risks after making it mandatory for trekkers to show PCR reports.

A meeting of the Chhomrong Tourism Entrepreneurs Committee on Tuesday decided in this regard amid decreasing infection rate and life returning to normal, said the committee’s secretary Dilip Gurung. “Earlier we asked guests to carry PCR reports for the virus for the entry and their stay at hotels. However, we removed the mandatory as infection risks are decreasing and we found it hassle involved.”

The Committee has however asked trekkers to follow a health protocol. Preparations were underway to resume hotels at and around the Machhapuchchhre and Annapurna Base Camps within this week, he said. Tourism activities at the Annapurna Base Camp would be resumed full-fledged in one month and for the time being, arrangements have been made for trekkers getting to Deurali after reaching the Base Camp, said the Committee, adding that guides are available in this regard.
